Ponies, Chickens, Peacocks and Squirrels

My friend has a horse at the stables close to our house. We ventured there yesterday to see her horse. As soon as we stepped out of the car we had chickens, peacocks, roosters, bunnies and squirrels scurrying all around us. We paid a visit to Cody (my friend's horse), Pete and Stretch (Cody's stable mates). Lindsay fed him and his friends a couple carrots and gave each horse a few strokes on the nose. Kendal tentatively watched. We collected feathers, visited a Shetland pony named Ferbie and watched some horses run in the arena. Can't wait to return to the stables for another visit. Lindsay of course wants to become a cowgirl and asked for a horse for her birthday...yikes!

Teeth Chattering and Knees Knocking

Lindsay just finished her first session of swim lessons. She is not a fan of swim lessons and gets herself all worked up before it's time to go. While at the lesson, her teeth are chattering and hands shaking because she's so afraid they're going to make her put her face in the water. Not that she doesn't have a problem doing that on her own terms...but if someone expects it of her, forget it! So...she did survive swim lessons and will return for session two in a couple weeks...wondering if she will continue to be a bundle of nerves???

Fun with Friends

We had a couple playdates with Ava and Charlie last week. They came and swam in our wading pool and had popscicles with us, then we headed to the bay on Friday. Lindsay thought she could swim but in reality she couldn't, Kendal was tuckered out after 90 minutes, cried uncontrollably ate lunch and passed out on a towel in the shade ( I spared you photos of that lovely scene), Ava had a lovely time in the water where she also thought she could swim...and Charlie, well he had A LOT of snacks and just hung out...unfortunately the only picture I have of him was attempting to escape our wading pool during our first play date. We look forward to more excursions and fun with the Escalantes.

Matching

These young ladies love to match...whether it's bathing suits, pajamas, towels, or dresses they love it. Just when I think I can get away with different attire one of them is unhappy...I know it will end soon so we'll enjoy it while it lasts.

4th of July

We just spent the day at home with family and friends. Watched fireworks from our front porch which was actually a great show...there are some pretty big displays close by so we took them all in. The girls stayed up until 10:30...which took them 3 days to recuperate...but it was worth it.

Kendal's New Bedroom

Kendal broke in her "big girl" bed a few months back and I am just getting around to posting a few pictures of her new room. She LOVES her room and the first night we set up her bed she and Lindsay layed in it and read books together, which was just adorable. I have found Kendal sound asleep on the floor next to her bed on a couple of occasions, which just baffles me...how she can roll onto the floor and not wake up??? Good thing her bed is low to the ground at the moment. We will purchase the trundle drawer that fits underneath eventually, but right now it works great as is. Decorating was fun though one thing I have learned is that I need to stay FAR away from Pottery Barn Kids...FAR!!

Baking Cookies with Mom

Lindsay Jane brought home the cutest Mother's Day gift from pre-school. A jar of fixins for making cookies together, along with a recipe and list of perishable items needed. So we made some time to make those cookies together. She of course loved every minute of it and enjoys baking as much as her mama, and great grandma. Just thought the idea was absolutely adorable!
