She's Eight

Time keeps ticking.
On to third grade before we know it.
Lindsay wishes she was 18 now.
I keep telling her she'll feel differently
later in life.
That growing up too fast
is not what life's about.
I encourage her to
embrace life at eight...
easier said than done.
She wants to be independent.
Make decisions on her own
(way too many).
We give her some decision making...
but try to remind her
we have her best
interest at heart...
she's skeptical...
With that said...
Lindsay continues to be a teacher pleaser.
School is becoming more of
a challenge,
but she is consistently
kind and respectful at school.
(Good thing cuz her mama works there).
We enjoy watching her
play volleyball and
become a person who
encourages  her teammates.
We sway her into
trying new things
when we can.
We continually are
reminded about how different
two kids from the same
parents are.
We love this girl,
for who she is...
and who she'll become.
