Hazely

Our good friend Debbie got a yellow lab pup, Hazely. She came over last Saturday to have a playdate with Terra...Lindsay fell in love.

Nona

We love to spend time with my grandma. Lindsay now calls her Nona her bestfriend which always brings tears to my eyes...I know, such a sap! When Nona was at our house last week she and Lindsay were comparing polkadots on their shirts (seen below). Of course Lindsay really wanted Nona to play hide and seek with her...Nona had other ideas and told Lindsay her guzitsa (croation for bottom) was much too old to play hide and seek. We also had dinner at Nona's house the following night where Lindsay decided to frolic about in her undergarments (minnie mouse) which my grandma thought was hilarious...it is so touching to see my girls enjoying their great grandma and spending time with her...each day is so precious!

Messiest eater award goes to...Kendal!

We certainly do not know where this young lady acquired her table manners...neither Mike nor I will take responsibility for this trait...but we do agree completely that we have never seen someone with such horrific table habits in our lives. Yes, we do know she is only 13 months old but WHAT A MESS!!!!!! I suppose we only have Lindsay to compare her to and Lindsay makes a normal amount of a mess when she eats...but it has never been to the caliber of what her baby sis is capable of. When Kendal eats she gets some food in her mouth...that we know by her size and weight, but the aftermath is unbelievable. She not only has food in her hair, eyebrows, ears and between her fingers, she makes a complete mess of the table, wall, highchair and floor! We rarely eat out because it is beyond a normal mess and we're embarrassed to leave the restaurant in that condition. Our dog has learned to sit at her feet while she is having a meal, which we're thankful for her help in eliminating some of the disaster. We do love our messy baby and needed to record this for her future...perhaps it will be part of her high school graduation montage...we'll see. These snapshots taken during last night's dinner really do not do justice to the mess she makes...stay tuned for more.

Overalls

We inherited these cute overalls from our good friend Debbie. Her son who is now 12 wore them, her duaghter who is now 9 wore them, Lindsay wore them and now Kendal is able to tumble in them...needless to say they have made their rounds. We love them and had to capture them on film...just because they are simply so cute!

My Comical Two Year Old

Lindsay and I have an ongoing dialog about whose baby she is. I say to her "Are you my baby?" and she responds, "No, I'm Dada's baby"...and usually the routine is I pretend to cry which of course makes her laugh.
So we're on our way to pre-school the other day in the car and our conversation goes something like this.
Mom - Lindsay are you my baby?
Lindsay - No, I'm Dada's baby!
(mom pretends to cry for a few seconds, stops, turns and looks in the back seat at her daughter)
Lindsay - Keep cryin' mom (with a smirk on her face and everything).
We both laughed...funny kid...you just never know what they're going to say...surprisingly it can often be very witty.

Had to show off the braided hair while I was posting photos...so cute!

Books

So if you know anything about me you know I LOVE children's books...what could you really expect from a teacher! But now I LOVE that my girls share my love for books. In the last month or so Kendal has become very interested in books...when she is out of my sight for a few minutes I will find her sitting next to one of our many baskets of books, taking one book after another, turning the pages, talking to herself and occasionally laughing. The other day when I finished doing the dishes I found her here...reading away...what a grand sight.

Kendal 13 Months

The girl is on the go constantly. Since she began to walk 3 months ago she loves to pace...just for the sake of pacing...I think she is so thrilled to walk that she does just that! She is also now attempting to run which is hilarious to watch. Kendal loves Dora just as her sister did at the same age. She can also sit through an entire Disney movie...how bout that for an attention span...and for allowing mommy to have a little down time...what luck!

Snuggly Things

Kendal has this favorite little pink blankie with a pink bunny on top, it is made by "blankies and beyond" and she does not ever sleep without it. I can only find them on ebay now...which I am tempted to pay top dollar for a spare because she is going to rub the ears right of it's head...as you can see in these early morning photos she is quite attached.

Bathing Beauties

Bathtime is becoming easier now that the girls are bathing together...if only I could get Kendal to stop drinking the bath water...she's a nut!

Visit with cousin Raegan

We had a great visit with Mike's stepsister DeeDee, her husband Dave and their daughter Raegan on Saturday at the beach. It was windy, a bit cold but thankfully the sun was shining...the girls had a wonderful time. Raegan is just a month younger than Lindsay and soooooo cute! We hope they come back soon.

Sharing Day Dilemmas

Most Fridays at Lindsay's Pre-School are sharing days. Occasionally there will be a theme posted on her class' monthly calendar which asks them to bring something more specific. Last week they were talking about bunnies all week and on Friday they were to bring something soft and cuddly to share. I asked her that morning what she'd like to bring (at least a choice of 25 stuffed animals) and she said "nothing". I pressed on..."Lindsay, what are you going to bring today to share, your teacher (yeah, blame it on the teacher right)wants you to bring something" Lindsay "No, mom I don't like to share"....silence...I explain that sharing day means you need to share with your friends but you always bring home whatever you took to school. Lindsay expresses she does not like when her friends want to see her things at school "they're mine". The final compromise, more for the sake that I look good for reading the school calendar and knowing that she was suppose to bring something soft and cuddly, two stuffed animals...one for her to hold and one for her to share...the comical thing is that the one she was going to relinquish to her friends belonged to her sister...conclusion: she's too smart for her own britches sometimes.

Easter

Lindsay had a very difficult time falling asleep last night due to the excitement of the Easter Bunny visit. She was thrilled to find her Easter basket at the back door this morning and all the colored eggs filled with treats, Kendal was just content carrying around one half of a plastic egg.
As we prepared to go to Poppy's house for an Easter celebration Lindsay was very excited to show off her pretty dress and told her father he should wear a dress as well...he explained to her that boys do not usually wear dresses to which she responed "but your big enough dad, you can wear one".
The pictures of Kendal are exactly what her life is like...which is in constant motion...my sister-in-law and I were laughing at the challenge of getting a decent picture of her...I tried.

Super Girl and Super Puppy

Once in a while Lindsay wants to be Super Girl and needs a cape...a blankie is always the perfect at your fingertips cape...but then she needed a cape for her puppy, I had to laugh at such a request...but quickly found a washcloth for his cape and she could not have been happier. Oh, the little things in life...Do you love the bedhead she's sporting...so funny!!
